Recap: 3/22 Show at The Cutting Room NYC

It was a great time this past weekend at The Cutting Room NYC! I had such a blast performing with such an amazing band: Shoutout to Nate Jones on bass, Walt on guitar, Divine on Keys, Kamaala for always being the dopest background singer a gal could ask for.

While I did mostly songs and poems from my album, AIM HIGH, the biggest treat in my opinion was closing the show with Pharrell's "Happy." People were on their feet jamming and clapping and singing along. It was simply great having so many people there showing love!

Here are some pictures:

New Video: My Cover of "Who Can I Run To?" / "Time"

Here's my mash-up of Xscape's version of "Who Can I Run To?" and my original song/poem "Time" from my album AIM HIGH. Check it out, share, like it, tweet it. :)

Ignore all the nosy people by the bar. SMH. lol. I had a great time with the folk right up front rocking with me. :)

Video: "Climbing Higher: Shanelle’s Lupus Story"

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system becomes overactive and attacks the body itself. Singer, poet and activist Shanelle Gabriel was diagnosed with Lupus in 2004. She joined the American College of Rheumatology‘s Simple Tasks campaign to educate others on rheumatic diseases, such as Lupus. Shanelle tells her own story of embracing the obstacles that were thrown at her, so she could use them as stepping stones to climb higher to her dreams. She is inspiring others to value their health and their life.

"The Fact Is (I Need You)" by Jill Scott on VH1 Storytellers

This is one of my favorite performers sharing one of my favorite songs. Ms. Jill Scott's "The Fact Is" always moves me. I'm very much a Daddy's Girl so it speaks to my spirit. Such a great way to say that the men in our life are important and very necessary no matter how strong we are.

Footage and Photos from my performance at Highline Ballroom!

For those of you that missed it, here are some video and photos from my April 19th Concert at the illustrious Highline Ballroom to benefit the SLE Lupus Foundation!! NYC!
